MANIFESTO

We aim to influence the hearts and minds of individuals and institutions to think more holistically about driving measurable solutions, increasing mindshare, and delivering better products and services to meet the true speed of the world's most pressing challenges.

While the need to create new products in the impact investing space gets much attention, the “inner” work of knowing ourselves and learning to trust our voice is equally important. Based on the Impact Experience team’s experience in the sector, our hypothesis is that the potential for transformative change is greatest when a deep connection exists between investors’ innermost values and how that manifests in the world. For investors, this means how they allocate their resources-- time, energy, and capital.

We believe that people open to embarking on a journey of knowing themselves better in a deep, continuous process are better equipped to invest in personal relationships that, over time, lead to structural change. If enough people get in touch with themselves and understand connection between their personal struggles and our global pressing problems, we can awaken the collective wisdom necessary to build the will and ultimately imagine the context of the solutions we so desperately need around the world.

We ultimately see impact investing as a continuation of the Civil Rights movement...

Impact investing is one of the few answers to the conversation around economic justice, a set of moral principles for building economic institutions. Economic justice aims to give each person an opportunity to create a sufficient material foundation upon which to have a dignified, productive, and creative life. By using financial systems as a mechanism to create fairness for a more unified world, we’re continuing the work of King, Gandhi, and other Civil Rights leaders that paved the way.

Our competitive advantage is exposure to real people in real places...

People who may not have resources to come. People of color, people in the impact investing landscape, people open to embarking on a journey of knowing themselves better and in a deep and continuous process.   We also think about diversity, equity, inclusion, and integrated system challenges.   Functionally, we direct our energy into the learning journey as a strategy to invest in personal relationship that over time lead to structural change.  That's how we are different!

We are intent on documenting and sharing our process over time...

knowing that if enough people get in touch with themselves and understand connection between themselves and our global pressing problems, we will awaken collective wisdom necessary to build the will, and ultimately imagine the context of the solutions we so desperately need in places like Baltimore, the Middle East, India, Mexico, Oakland, and beyond.

Furthermore, we believe in asking and holding questions...

waiting for the answers to reveal themselves, testing out insights, and enabling a free flowing process that unleashes and places trust in the power of groups, places, stories, as well as the exploration ancestral connection as inspiration.

And finally, we seek to help people set in place a lifetime intention...

eventually resulting in a toolkit for the daily application of these ideas, this community, the connection to inner knowing.   How do we operationalize and follow up to connect across journeys and reconnect afterwards in a way that is self-sustaining?
